Green River Plaza, standing as a powerful symbol of the nation’s modernization and ambition. Manufactured by German firm Flagpole One (a division of Trident Support GmbH), this is one of the tallest flagpoles in the world, showcasing advanced engineering and national pride. TFB Lighting is honored to contribute to this iconic project by providing custom lighting design that brings this monumental structure to life after sunset.

Lighting a Landmark: Meeting an Extraordinary Challenge
Designing a lighting solution for a structure of this scale presented significant technical challenges. The lighting system needed to illuminate the entire 201.8-meter pole and a massive national flag measuring 60×40 meters (3,240 m² and weighing around 500 kg) — all from a 30-meter-high mast-mounted lighting fixture. Achieving uniform, stable, and dignified illumination across this height demanded precision optics and powerful, high-efficiency luminaires.

TFB Lighting collaborated closely with the project team to optimize the design of the 30-meter pole-mounted fixtures, enhancing light projection, minimizing glare, and ensuring maximum visual impact. Special attention was given to beam angle control, color temperature range, heat dissipation, and weather resistance — ensuring reliable performance even in Egypt’s harsh desert climate.

Custom-Engineered Fixtures Built for Performance
To meet the unique requirements of this project, TFB Lighting developed high-performance luminaires tailored for long-range illumination. Each fixture measures 1260 mm in length, with a rated power of 30W to 40W, operating at an input voltage range of AC 175–265V. The lighting system delivers a luminous efficacy between 120 to 140 lumens per watt, supported by LUMILEDS 3030 light sources and a power factor exceeding 0.98. These lamps emit a carefully selected color temperature range of 3000K to 5700K, offering both visual warmth and clarity.

A wide 152° × 72° beam angle ensures effective streetlight-style distribution, while the high-transparency PC lens and robust aluminum body provide excellent durability and optical control. The fixtures are designed to operate reliably for over 30,000 hours, making them ideal for large-scale architectural and urban projects that demand both performance and longevity.

A Beacon of National Spirit
Unveiled in December 2021, the New Cairo flagpole serves as a centerpiece in Egypt’s bold New Capital project — an expansive urban development designed to ease pressure on Cairo and house key government and diplomatic institutions. As a national symbol, the flagpole needed not only structural excellence but also lighting worthy of its significance.

TFB Lighting is proud to be part of this historic project, providing a lighting solution that matches the stature and symbolism of the structure it illuminates. Our participation reflects our capabilities in landmark lighting design, particularly for super-tall structures, and reaffirms our presence in key international markets such as the Middle East and Africa.
